Reforming measures were introduced in early 2004 aimed at containing
costs for the benefit of consumers of legal and insurance services
and the better administration of claims. These measures include
the Personal Injuries Assessment Board Act, 2003, the Civil
Liability and Courts Bill, 2004 and the Rules of the Superior
Courts (Commercial Proceedings), 2004. For further information
on these new measures please click here.
The Personal Injuries Assessment Bill will establish a Personal
Injuries Assessment Board. This is a significant development
for Irish litigation in general and for the regulation of
product liability claims in particular.
